not seeing eye to eye

i call you fake crazy because you’re saner than i
you call me crazy fake on account of my lies

you want to be wild, unleashed, out of bounds
i want my words to bring you around

your distance puts me right at the edge
i’ve grown too used to gripping that ledge

you tell me to play it straight
i say you’ll have a long wait

never up, always down
frankly, I’d rather drown

in a sea of ice
rather than miss the throwing of rice

you ask, is that what this is about?
i say, please love, have no doubt

in my eye shines a glimmer of truth
your gray hair says you’re getting long in the tooth

you say you never were the marrying kind
and leave me alone to chew on the rind
